Research-use-only framing applied throughout in line with Remy editorial standards.
AOD-9604 is a synthetic 16-amino-acid peptide built from the tail end of human growth hormone. It was developed as an obesity drug. In 2007 its Australian developer ended that work after a trial in 536 adults found no significant weight loss compared with placebo.[1][2] It is not an approved medicine. FDA says no FDA-approved drug contains it. In December 2024 an FDA advisory committee voted 12 to 0 against adding it to the list of substances US compounding pharmacies may use.[3] WADA prohibits it at all times as a growth hormone fragment.[4]
In Dubai, most search results for AOD-9604 are clinic and home-healthcare "peptide therapy" offers. This guide is about checking research material instead. Remy Research lists the ProPeptide AOD-9604 10mg vial and two Genovare pens that contain AOD-9604. None of the three has a batch-specific Janoshik report yet. The price table below gives AED prices and stock from the catalogue, with its date. Material is supplied for in-vitro laboratory research only, not for human or veterinary use.

What Is Sold as "AOD-9604" in Dubai
A search for AOD-9604 in Dubai returns two kinds of offer that are easy to confuse:
- Clinic and home-healthcare "peptide therapy". Most results are clinic, IV-drip or home-visit pages. Many sell pre-filled pens or treatment packages. These are services, and this guide does not cover them.
- Research-use vials and pens. Peptide suppliers sell lyophilised vials and pre-filled pens labelled for research use only. This is the category this guide covers.
Many clinic pages present AOD-9604 as a fat-loss treatment. The trial record below does not support that.
What AOD-9604 Is: Structure and the hGH Link
FDA describes AOD-9604 as a 16-amino-acid peptide. It is residues 177 to 191 of human growth hormone (hGH) with one extra tyrosine added at the start. Two cysteines in the chain are joined by a disulfide bond. The free base is C78H123N23O23S2, about 1815.1 g/mol, PubChem CID 71300630. FDA gives its CAS number as 221231-10-3.[1][5]
A 2013 paper by authors linked to the developer describes it as the part of growth hormone that carries the hormone’s fat-reducing activity, without its negative effects.[6] In obese mice, AOD-9604 and hGH both reduced weight gain. Unlike hGH, AOD-9604 did not cause high blood sugar or lower insulin secretion. In cell tests it did not compete for the hGH receptor and did not make the cells multiply.[7] WADA lists AOD-9604 and hGH 176-191 as two separate examples of growth hormone fragments.[8] The AOD-9604 vs hGH fragment 176-191 comparison explains how the two names differ.
The Obesity Trials, Sorted by Type
The animal studies are reviewed in depth in the AOD-9604 research review. For a sourcing decision, what matters is what the human trials found.
| Stage | Who took part | What was reported |
|---|---|---|
| Rodent studies | Obese rats and mice | Less weight gain and more fat breakdown in fat tissue |
| Early human studies | Four short early-phase studies in 91 men | No significant weight loss against placebo where it was measured |
| 12-week trial | 300 adults with obesity | Small differences from placebo; FDA found no full publication |
| 24-week OPTIONS trial | 536 adults with obesity enrolled, 502 randomised | Main goal missed; obesity programme ended in 2007 |
In obese rats, AOD-9604 cut weight gain by more than half over 19 days and raised fat breakdown in fat tissue. It did so without the loss of insulin sensitivity seen with intact hGH.[9] Between 2001 and 2006 the developer, Metabolic Pharmaceuticals, ran six randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled human trials with 893 adults in total. The first four were short early-phase studies in men.[6] A published summary of the early studies, reviewed by FDA, reported no statistically significant weight loss compared with placebo. The 12-week study in 300 adults reported more weight loss than placebo. Its best result missed statistical significance overall and reached it only in women. FDA called the differences small and of unclear meaning. It found no full publication of the study.[1][2]
The largest trial, called OPTIONS, enrolled 536 adults with obesity. Everyone also followed a dietician-supervised diet and exercise programme. After 12 and 24 weeks, weight loss beyond placebo was less than 1 kg in every treatment group and did not reach statistical significance. On February 21, 2007 the company announced that the results did not support the drug’s commercial viability for obesity. It ended that programme.[2] FDA’s 2024 review concluded that the evidence does not support AOD-9604’s effectiveness for obesity by any route. FDA found no sign that the OPTIONS results were published in the medical literature.[1] As of October 18, 2026, no AOD-9604 study is registered on ClinicalTrials.gov.[10]
What Has Been Published on Safety
- The developer’s summary. A 2013 paper summarised the six trials. It reported a safety profile like placebo, no change in IGF-1 and no antibodies against the peptide in the patients tested.[6] FDA notes that the authors were employees or consultants of the company, which funded all six trials.[1]
- Serious events FDA flagged. Serious adverse events reported in the human studies included diarrhoea, chest tightness and several types of cancer. The trial investigators judged the cancers unrelated to the peptide. FDA said the information was not enough to tell.[1]
- Animal toxicology. FDA’s initial review saw signals of harm to bone health in a 13-week oral study in rats. It also saw possible signs of liver toxicity in a nine-month oral study in monkeys.[1]
- Gaps. FDA found no human data for the subcutaneous or skin routes that had been proposed. It found no information on how the peptide behaves in the human body.[1] FDA’s compounding-risk page adds that it has identified serious adverse events that may be associated with AOD-9604, though causality is not clear.[11]
Regulatory Status in 2026
- United States. FDA says no FDA-approved drug contains AOD-9604.[1] On December 4, 2024 the Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee voted 12 to 0 against adding AOD-9604 (free base and acetate) to the 503A Bulks List.[3] FDA’s compounding-risk page, last modified April 22, 2026, lists AOD-9604 among substances “nominated but withdrawn”.[11]
- Other regulators. FDA searched national medicine registries, the European Medicines Agency website and the European, Chinese, Indian and Japanese pharmacopoeias, and found no monograph for AOD-9604. FDA also reports that Australia added AOD-9604 to its Poisons Standard as a performance and image enhancing drug. Possession without authority is illegal there.[1]
- United Arab Emirates. We found no UAE registration of AOD-9604 as a medicine. This is not a legal opinion. The Dubai legality brief covers UAE medicine and import rules, and the controlled medicines permits guide covers personal-use permits.
- Sport. WADA prohibits AOD-9604 at all times under class S2.2.3, where it is named as a growth hormone fragment.[4] The 2027 List, in effect from January 1, 2027, names it in the same class, where every substance is non-Specified.[8] A validated urine test for the peptide was published in 2015. The same paper found a breakdown product that was more stable in serum than the peptide itself.[12]

Checking an AOD-9604 Supplier in the UAE
In one nomination FDA reviewed, the certificate named the acetate salt for a product nominated as the free base. The same certificate printed the free-base CAS number, formula and weight for the acetate. FDA also noted that some suppliers publish a structure that does not match the sequence.[1] Before ordering from any supplier, including this one, check:
- The batch report. A certificate for the batch you will receive, from a named lab, dated, with a verification code you can check. The Janoshik verification guide shows how.
- Identity by mass. HPLC purity says how clean a sample is. Mass spectrometry confirms that it is AOD-9604, at about 1815.1 for the free base. The COA and HPLC guide explains both.
- Salt form and CAS number. Does the certificate say free base or acetate? Do the CAS number, formula and weight match that form? A CAS number alone does not prove identity.
- Claims. A research supplier that promises fat loss, describes human use or gives protocols is making claims the trial record does not support.
- Contact and handling. A fixed product URL, a verifiable contact channel and a stated cold-chain process reduce impersonation risk; see contact verification.
What This Page Does Not Claim
- It does not claim that animal findings or the developer’s trial summaries show benefit in people.
- It does not give dosing, preparation or administration information of any kind.
- It does not claim that any format or brand works better than another.
- It does not claim a published batch report for products that have none.

AOD-9604 Dubai FAQ
Where can I buy AOD-9604 in Dubai?
Most Dubai search results are clinic and home-healthcare "peptide therapy" offers. For research material, Remy Research lists the ProPeptide AOD-9604 10mg vial, a Genovare AOD-9604 25mg pen and a Genovare pen that combines hGH fragment 176-191 with AOD-9604. They are supplied for in-vitro laboratory research only, not for human or veterinary use. Whatever the source, ask for a dated, batch-linked certificate with mass-spectrometry identity before ordering.
Is AOD-9604 legal in the UAE?
We found no UAE registration of AOD-9604 as a medicine, and FDA says no FDA-approved drug contains it. This is a status line, not legal advice. The Dubai legality brief covers the wider rules.[1]
Is AOD-9604 FDA-approved?
Did AOD-9604 work in human obesity trials?
Not well enough for its developer to continue. Metabolic Pharmaceuticals ran six placebo-controlled trials between 2001 and 2006. In the largest, which enrolled 536 adults, weight loss beyond placebo was under 1 kg at 12 and 24 weeks. The company ended the obesity programme in 2007. In 2024 FDA concluded that the evidence does not support effectiveness for obesity.[6][2][1]
Is AOD-9604 the same as hGH fragment 176-191?
Is AOD-9604 banned in sport?
What should an AOD-9604 certificate of analysis show?
Identity by mass spectrometry, HPLC purity, the salt form (free base or acetate) with a matching CAS number, formula and weight, the lab name, a date and a batch number that matches the vial. FDA found a certificate that mixed up the free base and the acetate, so a CAS number alone is not proof.[1]
Does Remy Research publish a batch report for AOD-9604?
Not yet. The ProPeptide 10mg vial is sold to the ProPeptide ≥99% purity brand standard without a batch-specific Janoshik report. The two Genovare pens are listed with independent testing not supplied. Published reports are in the lab results library.
